  12. Take 1/2 tsp garam masala powder
  13. Prepare 2 cardamoms
  14. Get 4 cloves
  15. Prepare 1 small stick cinnamon
  16. Get 2 tbsp curd
  17. Make ready 2 tbsp tomato puree
  18. Prepare 1 dry red chilli
  19. Get 2-3 green chillies
  20. Take 3 tbsp mustard oil
  21. Prepare 1 tbsp ghee
  22. Get To taste salt
  23. Make ready 1 tbsp coriander leaves finely chopped
  24. Get 1 potato quartered and boiled
Steps to make Paanch Phoron Chicken:
  1. Marinate chicken with 2 tbsp mustard oil,salt,tomato puree, curd,onion and ginger garlic paste,coriander,turmeric and red chilli powder for at least 1 hour.Meanwhile peel and quarter 1 medium potato.Parboil in little salt water.Heat oil in a pan and fry the potato.Set aside.
  2. Add ghee.Sprinkle paanch phoron(kalonji,fennel,fenugreek,cumin,mustard).When they crackle,add chopped onion and fry till golden brown.Add marinated chicken,salt and pinch of sugar to taste and fry.
  3. Add 1.5 cups water and cook on low flame covered till chicken and potato are done and gravy coats the chicken.Sprinkle fennel seed powder and garam masala and toss.Garnish with chopped coriander and green chilli.Serve hot with roti,paratha or pulao.
